That Blogging Disease
Her blog was just perfect, no line out of place.
She worked on it daily, as if in a race.
The sidebar was polished, the blogroll most cool.
She'd mastered the usage of each blogging tool.
Her placement of widgets was well optimized.
She'd grow rich from Adsense! she oft fantasized.
Her work in the sandbox had dug up some words
which were sure to attract the big spenders by herds.
If one checked the archives, each month was quite packed,
with long nights of research and fact after fact.
Feedburner told her her star was now rising.
With all her hard work, it wasn't surprising.
She rose from her chair, her knees loudly creaking.
Her spine was on fire and her whole neck was squeaking.
Her eyes were so blurry, she held to a table.
She wanted to walk, but she wasn't quite able.
How long have I been here, marketing so,
and making my blog to prosper and grow?
I used to be lively and rosy and spry.
But now I feel sickly, with pain in each eye.
She reached for her cell phone and called 9-1-1.
They carted her off and some testing was done.
The doctor came in and sat on the bed.
"It's a case of blogitis," he finally said.
"Blogitis!" she gasped. "What does this mean?"
"You must stay away from your computer screen.
You must rest your brain 'til the swelling is gone,
and all of your blogs, you must leave them alone."
She settled in meekly to do what he said.
She spent a long time in that hospital bed.
She dialed the gift shop. "Do you sell laptops?"
"Good Heavens! There's nothing like that in these shops!!
One day she was finally let out of that place.
She sped away home, as if in a race.
She opened Explorer and looked for her site,
but what she got was a terrible fright.
She picked up her cell phone, shaky and nervous.
She punched in the numbers to customer service.
she listened to music while waiting, on hold.
Finally, to someone her story she told.
"Ma'am", said the boy, "remember last summer?
You didn't renew for two years. What a bummer!"
Her mind raced back to that fateful, sad date,
when she opted to shop for a much better rate.
"Oh no!" she screeched into the phone.
All of my link work and marketing gone!
So much dough I could have acquired,
but laid up with blogitis, my domain name expired!!
