LeapFrog Goes A Long Way!Help For Busy MomsAt times, an electronic learning resource can be a mom's best friend, and I think my current favorite is the LeadPad by LeapFrog. This tool is so versatile, with booklets geared toward nearly every age child in our home, and it has been well worth the money!
Supplemental Lesson HelpAs we prepare for end-of-year testing, my 3rd grader has been working from their Smart Guide to 3rd Grade and Smart Guide to 4th Grade. Since I am trying to focus on broadening my dyslexic son's vocabulary and list of words he can read (but don't always have time for yet another lesson on any given day), the Great Reader series has been very helpful. With a budding reader at 5, the LeapPad has had yet another use in our home--teaching phonics with the LeapPad phonics program. We have had no problem with the Quantum products working on our original LeapPad. We suggest a LeapPad storage system of some sort to keep up with the cartridges. Our LeapPad is currently 1 year old with no problems and no battery change yet! Also, I cannot say enough about the Letter Factory and Word Factory DVDs we recently purchased, also by LeapFrog.
Paper-and-Pencil or LeapFrog? There's nothing like good old-fashioned books, paper, pencils, and one-on-one time with mom, but Leap Frog products get a big thumbs-up from us as far as being entertaining, educational, and useful in the homeschool setting for keeping children busy and learning!
