During our study of Little Nino's Pizzeria, we discovered the "A is for America" state-by-state series of Alphabet books. They are so much fun! We will definitely fit more of these into our "rowing."

Our Study of Little Nino's PizzeriaLittle Nino's Pizzeria is a children's picture book, written and illustrated by Karen Barbour. We use Five In A Row for lesson plans. Our highlights this week were looking at books, reading Little Nino's and, of course, eating pizza. There wasn't much on our learning table besides books, but books will do! We put our story disk on New York. Why? Because I distinctly remember my first trip to New York City in 1985. I was a young adult and totally bedazzled by the big city. I have a clear memory of going into a pizza parlor and just sitting, staring out the window at the numerous and varied people on the sidewalk. I could glance over my shoulder and see pizza dough being whirled in the air behind me; I could look straight ahead and see New York! This book gave me a chance to share that memory with my daughter. As always, one little thing led to many other conversations about people, places, etc.
We definitely made our own pizza this week. One of the recipes was very easy. Just go to the Pillsbury website and look at the recipe for Easy Grands Pepperoni Pizzas. We also own the Five In A Row Cookbook, which is always fun! There's an easy recipe there as well. |
