Lynn's Goldfish Pond After One YearI wanted to just update with a picture of my goldfish pond now at nine months old. The water is not nearly as clear, but I still love it. You can still easily see the fish, especially after a good cleansing rain. The water does gently overflow through the rocks that surround my pond and the fish have never escaped during a rain.
I did not use a filter at first -- just a solar pump to run water up and out of a fountain. When the solar pump broke, however, I invested in an electric pump that made the water crystal clear. I also use bags of barley to try and stem the algae bloom in summer.
This time of year (beginning of summer) my garden really starts to come out and look like a little jungle. I think the pond will draw in wildlife now, but hopefully not anything any more than this.
Any more updates to the goldfish pond will be on my blog -- goldfish category.
